Rei Kawakubo, designerul din spatele brandului Commes des Garcons, este in atentia industriei de fashion, o data cu deschiderea noii expozitii de la Metropolitan Museum of Art din New York. Expozitia se numeste Rei Kawakubo/ Commes de Garcons: Art of the In-Between si face o recenzie exhaustiva a tuturor pieselor iconice ale unuia dintre cele mai avangardiste branduri. Linia fina dintre moda si anti-moda, relatia dintre frumos si urat, dintre structural si de-construit – toate aceste teme explorate de Rei Kawakubo se regasesc in creatiile sale, acum atent alese intr-o expozitie pe care va recomand sa o vizitati, daca aceasta vara va duce prin New York.
EN: Rei Kawakubo, the designer behind the brand Commes des Garcons, is in the focus of the fashion industry, ever since the opening of the new exhibition from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The exhibition is called Rei Kawakubo/ Commes de Garcons: Art of the In-Between and makes an exhaustive review of all the iconic pieces from one of the most avant-garde brands. The fine line between fashion and anti- fashion, the relationship between beautiful and ugly, between structural and de- structured- all these themes explored by Rei Kawakubo are found in his creations, now carefully selected in an exhibition which I recommend you visit, if your roads lead to New York this summer.
Ca de obicei, fiecare noua expozitie de fashion este deschisa de Gala Met, in prima luni de mai. Si, tot ca de obicei, vedetele au abordat tema expozitiei cu tinute interesante, inspirate sau pur si simplu frumoase. Eu am ales un mic top al celor mai bine imbracate vedete din prisma expozitiei, avantgardista prin excelenta. Asa ca nu am ales neaparat rochiile frumoase, cat cele interesante, experimentale si, prin excelenta, unice. Aceste tinute nu sunt neaparat haine asa cum le intelegem noi, pentru ca sunt desigur greu de purtat, dovada fiind ca multe vedete s-au schimbat la scurt timp dupa ce au pasit pe covorul rosu. Ei bine, ele sunt mai degraba povesti pe care le poti imbraca, piese speciale care sunt mai degraba cumparate de colectionarii de arta decat de fashioniste.
Rihanna s-a intrecut pe sine dupa capa galbena purtata anul trecut: a ales o creatie Kawakubo si o pereche de sandale DSquared. Intrebata de
Andre Leo Talley cat de greu a fost de imbracat rochia a raspuns ca asta a durat 2 minute, insa sandalele a reusit sa le lege intr-o ora! Uneori ce pare complicat e de fapt foarte simplu!
Jaden Smith, fiul lui Will Smith,a fost foarte cool intr-o tinuta Louis Vuitton. Mi s-a parut foarte fresh sa vad un barbat purtand niste ghete cu toc care, culmea, nu il efemineaza deloc, ci mai degraba au un aer foarte vintage si ma duc cu gandul la regii Frantei.
Mi-a placut tare mult si Amy Fine Collins, de la Vanity Fair, care a ales o tinuta Thom Browne androgina foarte sexy, perfect potrivita temei galei.
Gigi Hadid a reusit sa fie super-sexy intr-o rochie Tommy Hilfiger.
Ruth Negga a reusit sa dea o tenta foarte cool unei tinute monahale semnata Valentino, purtand codite impletite si un make-up minimal, cu accente tough pe ochi.
Rita Ora a purtat o rochie Marchesa in rosu si nud, accentuand una din culorile “fetis” ale lui Rei Kawakubo, rosul aprins.

EN: As usual, every new fashion exhibition is opened by the Met Gala, on the first Monday of May. And, also as usual, the stars have taken on the theme of the exhibition with interesting outfits, inspiring or simply beautiful. I have chosen a short top of the best dressed stars in regard to the exhibition, avant-garde by excellence. So I didn’t necessarily choose the beautiful dresses, but the interesting ones, experimental and, mainly, unique. These outfit aren’t necessarily clothes as we understand them, because they are obviously hard to wear, proof being that many of the stars changed shortly after walking the red carpet. Well, they are more stories which you can wear, special pieces which are mostly bought by art collectors than fashionistas.
Rihanna outdid herself after the yellow cape she wore last year: she chose a creation by Kawakubo and a pair of DSquared sandals. Asked by Andre Leo Talley how hard it was to put the dress on she said that only took 2 minutes, but she managed to tie her sandals in one hour! Sometimes what looks complicated is actually pretty simple!
Jaden Smith, the son of Will Smith, was very cool in a Louis Vuitton outfit. I thought it’s very refreshing to see a man wearing some heeled ankle boots which didn’t effeminate him at all. They give him a very vintage look and they make me think of the kings of France.
I also liked Amy Fine Collins, from Vanity Fair, who chose a Thom Browne outfit, androgynous and very sexy, perfectly tuned with the theme of the gala.
Gigi Hadid managed to look super- sexy in a Tommy Hilfiger dress.
Ruth Negga managed to give a cool look to a monarchal outfit signed by Valentino, wearing braids and a minimal make-up, with tough accents on the eyes.
Rita Ora wore a Marchesa dress in red and nude, highlighting one of the “fetish” colors of in Rei Kawakubo, bright red.

Primele ganduri care mi-au trecut prin minte cand am vazut tinuta lui Rihanna, a fost cam asa: “crafts day at Noah’s(copilutul meu) daycare, confetti all over the floor, paper cutouts…then Rihanna rolled in glue, then on their floor…”
